Playa del Acequión is a popular area for those who want to be close to both city life and the sea. The beach has very calm water and stretches for about 900 meters. It takes about 10 minutes to walk into the center of Torrevieja where there are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes. A short walk south is Playa de los Náufragos which is a slightly larger and more touristy beach. There are good bus connections in the area and it is easy to get both north and south along the coast.
